What was the cost of the shampoo?

Mary has $50.00. She goes to the mall and buys lipstick and then shampoo, which is half the price of the lipstick. She spends half of what she has left on lunch, leaving her with $15. What was the cost of the shampoo?What was the cost of the shampoo?
It's your homework. No one should be willing to help you here. Sorry.What was the cost of the shampoo?
At least one of the statements in the problem was not accurate.

if ';She spends half of what she has left on lunch, leaving her with $15';

Then she had $30 just before lunch and just after she ';buys lipstick and then shampoo';

Since she started with $50, she must have spent $20 dollars combined on the lipstick and shampoo.

If the shampoo ';is half the price of the lipstick.'; then there would exist some number S that is the price of the shampoo and some other number L=2*S that equals the price of the lipstick

The combined cost would be:

L+S=2*S+S=3*S=$20

Twenty is not divisible by three so ';S'; is not an integer.

$20 is equal to 2000 pennies.

Shampoo and lipstick are never sold at prices that contain a portion of a penny.

2000 is not divisible by 3 so ';S'; is not even an integer number of pennies.

The price of shampoo that would result in the statements the least inaccurate would be $6.67
Yes, it's not that hard of a question. Just do the math. Mary Has 50$.

15 dollars are left. if she spent half of what she has left on lunch, and was left with 15, then she had spent 15 dollars on lunch, meaning she had 30 after buying lipstick and shampoo.

there are 20$ left that we have to use. what two numbers fit into 20, and one of the numbers has to be half of the other?

i've helped you enough. figure it out now
$15 remained. (other half spent on luch is also $15)

minus this $15+$15 from $50.00 which

= $20

now she bought shapoo which was half the price of lipstick

so

20 divided by 3 = 6.67 (coz ur trying to find a half of a half)

what do you need to add to 6.67 to make $20?

= 13.33

$13.33 for lipstick

$6.66 shampoo

I gave you the way now learn the method and try it lol I hope this is right coz I'm crap at maths its my worst subject!!
$6.66

Work it backwards.

She finishes with $15.

So before lunch, this would be double, so $30.

Therefore, she has $20 to spend on the lipstick and shampoo.

$20/3 = $6.66 (the shampoo will be $6.66 and the lipstick $13.33)

[You really should do your own homework though]
(50-2x-x), amount after making the purchases at the mall

1/2(50-2x-x), amount after lunch which is 15

15=1/2(50-2x-x)

15=1/2(50-3x)

30=50-3x

-20=-3x

x=6+2/3= $6.66
you should actually DO your homework!
ummm if she got the good brand 10 dollars if she got the cheapo brand 50 cents lol i am really bad at math riddles
$20 for shampoo
about 2-5 dollars
$20.00
do your own homework
